About the Council
On March the 12th, 1909, 27 years after the Venerable Father Michael McGivney and a group of Catholic men received a charter from the Commonwealth of Connecticut to form the first Council of the Knights of Columbus in St. Mary’s Parish in New haven, another group of Catholic men received a charter from Supreme Council to form Toronto Council 1388. This first official meeting of Council 1388 was held in a building at 70 King Street East. Toronto Council 1388 was the eleventh Knights of Columbus Council to be formed in the Province of Ontario. The Toronto Council works closely with the Archdiocese of Toronto and 9 central parishes in Toronto –- St. Michael Cathedral, Saint Paul Basilica, Saint Basil, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Monica, St. Anselm, Holy Rosary, and Blessed Sacrament -- providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parishes. We have active programs for Church, Pro-Life, Community, and Youth, as well as a lively Social program for our members and their families.
